Transferring your Contacts
To import your existing Gmail contacts to Microsoft Outlook, you'll need to export your contacts to a CSV file.
1. Open your web browser and navigate to https://contacts.google.com.
2. On the side menu, click the More option and select Other Contacts. This will consist of your autofill - so when you start typing an email address of someone, this is where those are stored.
3. Click the top contact. Then click the arrow next to the blue square with a line through it and select All.
4. Click the three vertical dots and choose Export.
5. Select the Outlook CSV format, then click Export.
6. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 if you have any contacts in Contacts - just choose Contacts instead of Selected contacts.
7. The CSV file (or files) will automatically download and should appear on your downloads bar. If you do not see this download on your download bar, navigate to your Downloads folder. The file name will default to contacts.csv in an excel document. If you see a (1) after it, that means you have more contacts (if you did step 6).
8. To import these contacts, open Microsoft Outlook. Make sure you have a profile already set up.
9. Click File, and choose the option Open & Export. Choose the Import/Export option.
10. Click Import from another program or file, then click Next >. Choose Comma Separated Values, then click Next >.
11. In the File to import: box click Browse ... to upload the contacts.csv file you downloaded. When choosing options for how to deal with duplicate contacts, select Do not import duplicate items. If an outlook contact also exists in Gmail, this keeps the information without creating duplicates.
12. In the folder list under your Microsoft Outlook mailbox select the Contacts folder and click Next >. A box appears for you to confirm what's going to be imported. If all the information looks correct, choose Finish. To view your newly imported contacts in Microsoft Outlook, select Address Book. You'll see your list of contacts in the address book.
You're all set! To send a message to one of your contacts when composing an email message, you can access your contacts by clicking the To button.
